DCT’s Vasantrao Dempo Higher Secondary School of Arts, Science and Commerce, Cujira, is the oldest and most prestigious Higher Secondary School in North Goa.

Being a past student of the same institution, I feel honoured to be the Principal  after 37 years of teaching Economics in the same institution inclusive of teaching in the college section.

It’s my belief that education is not all about books and exams. Education is the overall development of the child in curricular and co-curricular activities.

Our massive infrastructure permits overall development of the child. We have excellent faculty members to look after the academic requirements. In addition, there are facilities for indoor games like table tennis, badminton, chess, carrom and archery. NCC training is also  available. For outdoor games, students get special coaching when the need arises. The Physical Education section is headed by our dynamic P.E Teacher, Mr. Chetan Kavlekar. There is also Mr. Vishal Bhandari who manages P.E in addition to the Naval NCC wing of our institution.

Students get exposure to showcase their talents in singing, dancing, music and acting too. We have constant support and encouragement from our management in all our endeavours.

In the last academic year, our students have excelled in both academics as well as co-curricular activities.  We have budding scientists like Mast Shiva Upadhyay who has represented our institution at the national level with his original inventions. We also have talented dancers like Miss Pauravi Desai who represented our institution and won prizes at an all India level. In this institution we have already put into practice the basics of the NEP which aims at an all round development of every child. We thus focus not only on academics but also art, culture, sports, music, drama, elocution, photography, scientific experiments  and inventions and so many more.

A child entering our institution is given both opportunity and encouragement to discover and hone his/her talents.  We also organize study tours, treks, picnics etc. to develop our students to face life situations and grow into capable adults.

In academics too we have excelled this year obtaining an overall pass percentage of 96%. We are also privileged, being one of the few higher secondary schools in Goa who have direct access and mentorship of leading colleges,  our sister concerns, namely D.C.T’s Dhempe College of Arts and Science and Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College (Autonomous) both accredited with NAAC ‘A’ Grade.  These prestigious colleges offer several happening courses and programmes including BBA, I M Com and many NEP compliant programmes apart from BA, B Sc, B Com etc. These colleges also provide exclusive guidance to our students to bring them on par with the academic requirements of any college courses.

Thus, a child after gaining entry into our institution will come out as a responsible, fully developed and confident citizen of our country on completing 2 years with us.
